AI visibility for SaaS brands

“What’s the best [category] tool for [use case]?” is now a question people ask ChatGPT and Perplexity as often as Google. If your SaaS product isn’t showing up in that answer, you’re losing a growing share of top-of-funnel discovery — and most SaaS marketing teams have no idea where they currently stand.

Start by finding out where you actually rank

Before changing anything, I run a set of 15–20 real buyer questions through ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews: “best X for Y,” “X vs Z,” “alternatives to X.” This tells you whether you’re missing entirely, mentioned without recommendation, or actively recommended — three very different problems with three different fixes.

Third-party proof matters more than your own site

AI engines weight independent sources — G2 reviews, Reddit threads, comparison blogs — heavily when forming a recommendation. A SaaS company with strong G2 reviews and active Reddit mentions often outranks a competitor with a better website but no third-party footprint. If you haven’t actively managed your review platform presence, that’s usually the highest-leverage first move.

Build the comparison content buyers are already asking for

“X vs Y” and “alternatives to X” pages get cited disproportionately because they answer a specific decision-stage question directly. Most SaaS companies avoid writing these because it feels uncomfortable to name competitors — but the pages exist somewhere, whether you write them or a competitor does.

Keep measuring, not just once

AI answers shift as models update and new content gets indexed. I re-run the same tracked query set monthly for SaaS clients — it’s the only reliable way to see whether recent content and review work is actually moving visibility.
